Combination wrench

What do I need a combination wrench for?

Combination wrenches belong to the category of wrenches and are particularly practical as they consist of a combination of an open-end and a box-end wrench. They are used to loosen or tighten nuts and bolts with specific bolt heads.

Open-end wrenches, also known as spanners, are among the most common types of wrenches and can be used for square or hexagonal bolts. Box-end wrenches, as the name suggests, have a ring-shaped profile that grips hexagonal or double-hexagonal bolts and nuts.

Wrenches are essential tools for tradespeople in many fields. They are used whenever bolts and nuts need to be loosened or tightened. Therefore, there are different wrench sizes for different screws, which are marked on the wrench. Combination wrenches are particularly used when working on bicycles, cars, motorcycles, and other machinery.

What should I consider when buying combination or ratchet wrenches and sockets?

Which combination or ratchet wrench is the right one? That depends on the purpose. For loosening or tightening standard screws, a ratchet wrench of the correct size is sufficient. To cover the most common wrench sizes, you should have sizes from 6 to 19 mm at home or in your workshop. With these 1-mm increment steps, most common screws can be handled. For special jobs, however, we have wrenches and sockets from 6 to 50 mm in our assortment. But beware! The right material is important. Our wrenches and socket wrench inserts are therefore made of chrome vanadium steel – this tool steel is rust-free and almost indestructible.
